COMMERCIAL VOICEOVER with EMILY LATKA - DEMO REEL INCLUDED!

We recommend this intensive for all levels of voiceover actors at all ages. Whether you are just starting out, or have experience in the industry, this is an amazing opportunity to continue to learn and grow as a voiceover artist. This class will have a specific focus on commercial copy, and the last class will be spent in the studio recording your starter demo reel!

ABOUT EMILY LATKA:
Emily has lived and worked in Los Angeles for ten years, first working in live daytime television, before moving into the agency world. She has worked in both voice over and on-camera commercial, with buyers and producers from every department possible: commercial, promo, narration, trailer, animation and interactive. Currently she is a voice over agent at A3 (the newly rebranded Abrams Artists Agency), with a large focus on commercial and promo. She’s booked clients for AT&T, Sony PlayStation, Doritos, LucasFilm, and Skechers, as well as promos on ABC, CBS, FOX, FOX Sports, Netflix, Disney Jr, and numerous cable networks, just to name a few. She has a strong, loud personality and can not only lead a room, but truly give an actor the confidence needed to book commercially in voice over.

Whether you are just starting out or have experience in the industry, this seven-week course is an amazing opportunity to learn and grow as a voiceover artist. This class will have a specific focus on copy in animation and the last class will be spent in the studio recording your starter demo reel! Open to all ages.

ABOUT PORTIA SCOTT: 
Portia Scott is a pioneer in the Voiceover arena in Hollywood!  She has over 25 years of experience as a Voiceover agent and is the only African American woman leading one of the top divisions as the Director of Voiceover at Coast-to-Coast Talent Group in Los Angeles.  Along with her talented team, she represents both adult and youth talent in all areas of voiceover. Her client roster is among the top talent in the industry having worked on animated Academy Award® & Golden Globe® awarded films such as Guillermo Del Toro’s Pinocchio and Toy Story 4. Further recent notable animation feature credits include Space Jam: A New Legacy, Raya and the Last Dragon, Over the Moon, Wish Dragon, Into The Spider Verse, Blue’s Big City Adventure, AINBO: Spirit of the Amazon, The Mitchells vs. The Machines, Abominable, Inside Out, UP and Frozen.

ACTING FOR ANIMATION: TECHNIQUE AND PERFORMANCE with PORTIA SCOTT and MELIQUE BERGER

A 3-week study in creating character through using techniques Method on the Mic(TM) Created by Portia Scott and The Art of the Pivot (TM) Created by Melique Berger to create truthful, dynamic performances that have range, comedy, and vocal energy.

ABOUT PORTIA SCOTT: 
Portia is currently The Director of Voiceover at Coast to Coast Talent Group where she runs the division with a great staff representing both adult and youth talent in all areas of voiceover. Portia's clients have booked hundreds of broadcast TV & Radio Commercials and several National Campaigns such as Wells Fargo, Wendy's, and T-Mobile to name a few. Her talent can been found as series regulars on Disney TV Animation, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, Dreamworks TV and Feature Animation, and a plethora of Animated Feature Films. Recent work includes, “Toy Story 4”, “Abominable” “Into The SpiderVerse”,”Shazam” “The Little Prince”, Pixar's “Cars 3”, “Inside Out” and "Rise of the Guardians.”

ABOUT MELIQUE BERGER:
Fans of Rick and Morty will recognize her as Mrs. Pancakes, Jacqueline, and Scary Melissa! Play videogames? Catch her in the highly anticipated BOTW sequel for Nintendo as The Mother Fairy, the first time a fairy will have spoken lines in the history of the Zelda games. Melique also voiced Theodosia and Wilhamina in OK K.O.! Let’s Be Heroes and is now the Narrator for Investigation Discovery’s Chaos in Court. Melique’s love for her craft comes second in life after being a loving mother to her sons Jackson and Julian. She is the House Mother of Bergers Reels, A Company of Actors, which trains twice a week via Zoom and operates in honor of her dearly departed mother, Myra Berger.

 

VOICE ACTING FOR VIDEO GAMES with JULIA MCILVAINE - DEMO REEL INCLUDED!

The opportunities to act in a video game are plentiful these days - most AAA games require a cast of a hundred to pull off thousands of voices, and a plethora of smaller games all have found that adding voice acting ups their quality and their potential sales. Throughout the class, you will be working on copy that will be recorded as an interactive reel in the fifth week! Find out all about this vast world and get started with your demo reel in this workshop!

ABOUT JULIA MCILVAINE:
Julia McIlvaine started her voice over career at a young age, as June in the hit Nickelodeon series Kablam! She has appeared in major games such as Final Fantasy XV, Anthem, Final Fantasy XIII and Guild Wars 2, as well as numerous anime series and MAD TV on Comedy Central. She is also a fixture in the dubbing community for live action television. Julia's on camera career includes appearances on Masters of Sex, Judging Amy, and four network pilots. Julia is a passionate actor and teacher. She brings fun, tons of learning and growth of craft into the room, and wants each and every student to come away feeling stronger and more prepared to tackle their voice acting careers!

some of Aaron's recent series include JAKE AND THE NEVERLAND PIRATES, STAR WARS: REBELS, RANDY CUNNINGHAM: 9th GRADE NINJA, KICK BUTTOWSKI: SUBURBAN DAREDEVIL and the upcoming series PICKLE & PEANUT. He has also worked on projects for Hulu, Amazon, Marvel, Netflix, Lucasfilm and LEGO.  He has two EMMY nominations for Outstanding Casting in an Animated Series or Special.

LOOPING AND GROUP ADR

What is Looping/Group ADR
Group ADR/Looping is a fun and lucrative part of the voiceover industry and post-production process. A group of actors jumps on a sound stage to record the extra dialogue necessary in film, TV, and video games. (Background voices, ADR, etc).

In this workshop, actors will learn the ins and outs of looping, including what the terms mean and how to perform them, how to improvise appropriate dialogue, and how to prepare for a session. This hands-on workshop will give actors the training and skills they need to pursue work in the field of looping!

About the teacher
This course is taught by a working professional in the field of looping, who will provide insight from the point-of-view of a voice casting director, a session director, and a loop group actor. The course is sized to allow actors enough attention to truly grasp and develop proper loop group technique.

LOOP GROUP: ADVANCED LEVEL

COURSE: The principal way to become a great looper is to practice. We'll reinstate the fundamentals that we've reviewed in the first round, and expand upon the important factors that will make you stand out as a superior loop group actor. 

WEEK ONE: Exploring your vocal range, and how to incorporate vocal variety into your looping. Emphasis on covering efforts and mastering lip flap and Specifics. 

WEEK TWO: Emphasis on understanding project tone, the type of call outs that are more likely to land, and how to handle more challenging ("advance research") shows. 

WEEK THREE: Focus on how to handle longer, more difficult cues. Run as a full "advance research" session.

The course is sized to allow actors enough attention to truly grasp and develop proper loop group technique.

PREREQUISITE: We recommend that you have either taken our Loop Group and Group ADR class with us here at The Actors Company, or that you have professional experience before registering for this class.
