WOMEN IN HOLLYWOOD-FINDING YOUR VOICE / JUMPSTARTING YOUR DREAM PROJECT

In this groundbreaking Women Only class actresses of all levels will learn how to attain confidence, drive and focus; pinpointing what makes them one of a kind.

Each week the class will be assigned writing topics that will bring them closer to discovering their unique “voice” both from the inside out as well as from the view point of the industry- exploring what makes them cast-able and how to emphasize those qualities with confidence.

The class will consist of Improvisation, performance and writing exercises performed in a truly supportive environment. Students will hear Inspiring stories and strategies of others for pursuing their dream projects, while taking the first steps toward fulfilling their own. From writing that first word, to crowd-funding, production and beyond. 

Original scenes and monologues will be workshopped throughout the class, culminating in a performance showcasing each participant’s original voice. 

About Maggie Baird
Maggie Baird is an Actor, Screenwriter and Songwriter. She is the co-writer and star of the award-winning feature film “Life Inside Out for which she also wrote many of the featured songs. The film which received its initial funding via a successful Kickstarter campaign went on to become a film-festival favorite. The film was selected for over twenty film festivals and received a commensurate number of awards including multiple “Best Picture” and “Audience Favorite” awards.

As an actor, Maggie was a company member of the famous comedy and Improvisational theatre The Groundlings, where she still often performs and currently teaches. She spent the early years of her career in NYC, performing on and off Broadway and working in theatres around the country. In LA she has appeared extensively in television, film, voice overs and video games. As a musician and song writer she released two CD’s of her original material.

The mother of two teenage children involved in their own busy artisitic endeavors, Maggie has developed strategies to help maintain her creative life while still being a dedicated and devoted parent. Sharing her unique perspectives and experiences to help nurture and support other creative women is the overriding reason she is excited to be teaching this one of a kind class at The Actors Company.
